South and Vale Holiday Activities
During most school holidays, our Active Communities team offer a range of free and low-cost activities, for young children, teenagers and families to enjoy at locations across South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse.
Bookings open around a month before each holiday period – follow our new Active Communities Facebook page, you can join our mailing list to receive regular email updates, or if you have any questions; please email active.communities@southandvale.gov.uk
The activities are usually very popular, we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment. See below for details of our next programme of holiday activities and how to book. Booking is required to be able to attend our activities.

October half term
The Active Communities team have free and low-cost activities running over October half term.

Active Leaders Course – Age 14-18 Abingdon, Monday 26-Friday 30 October
We will be running an Active Leaders Course in the October half term Monday 26- Friday 30 October, 9.30-3pm
- This is a 5 day practical training course enabling young people aged 14 to 18 years old to become Active Leaders. We use fun activity as a means of doing this, building workplace skills, experience, confidence and identifying next step opportunities.
- £50 per person or £30 with a YouMove card
- Monday, Tuesday& Thursday – The Junction, Broad St, Abingdon OX14 3JU.
- Wednesday and Friday – Didcot Leisure Centre, Meerland Road, OX11 8AY

Monday 26 October
Youmove only Golf Simulator sessions available for those signed up at the White Horse Tennis and Leisure Centre in Abingdon. Wednesday 28 October
Halloween themed Xplorer, 10am-midday (last registration 11.30am), Wantage Memorial Park, Manor Road, OX12 8DW. Free.
Take part in our free Halloween themed family Xplorer event in Wantage. This is aimed at pre-school and primary aged children to do with an adult. Explore the park, find the markers, complete the challenge and have fun together!

Friday 30 October
Come and try our free family golf session run by Drayton Park golf club. With coaches, driving range access and digital screens come bring the family and come and try golf! Session from 3:00-4:00pm at Drayton Park Golf Club, Steventon Road, Drayton, Abingdon, OX14 4LA.

Art Centre’s Half Term Activities
The Beacon, Wantage
The Beacon in Wantage has a range of creative activities and entertainment planned for the half term. Young people aged 9 to 16 can have a go at stop-motion filmmaking at an Animation Station workshop on Saturday 24 October, while younger children and their families can enjoy painting, sticking and imaginative play at Monkey Makers on Tuesday 27 October.

Cornerstone Arts Centre
Over at Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot, families can enjoy free art activities throughout the half term, as well as a mix of entertainment and live performances. On Saturday 24 October, families can enjoy a colourful ballet, Alice in Wonderland, and the holiday will finish with a Halloween-themed K-POP ICONS performance on Saturday 31 October. Members of the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime cast will also be at Cornerstone during the day for a meet-and-greet.

We offer a range of free and low-cost activities, for young children, teenagers and families to enjoy at locations across South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse during term time.

Activities for all residents
We also work across South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse to help residents with their physical health and wellbeing, running a variety of weekly activities for all ages and abilities.
Monday 26 October
Residents can help shape a new Play Corridor for Berinsfield – a fun walking trail with play features and a history theme. Drop-in sessions will take place at Berinsfield Recreation Ground on Monday 26 October from 2–4pm The Oxfordshire Play Association will be there with play and arts activities for everyone to get involved in this half term! Tuesday 27 October
