South and Vale Holiday Activities

During most school holidays, our Active Communities team offer a range of free and low-cost activities, for young children, teenagers and families to enjoy at locations across South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse.

Bookings open around a month before each holiday period – follow our new Active Communities Facebook page, you can join our mailing list to receive regular email updates, or if you have any questions; please email active.communities@southandvale.gov.uk 

The activities are usually very popular, we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.  See below for details of our next programme of holiday activities and how to book. Booking is required to be able to attend our activities.

What’s on, where and when:

February half term

The Active Communities team are offering a range of activities for you and your family to be active during February half term. Activities are low-cost or free, please see each activity for pricing. 

All adults and children attending the activity will need a ticket. Bookings must be made in advance and tickets can be purchased online on the day if there is still space available.

Tuesday 17 Feb- Wantage Leisure Centre Fun Day – 9.30am-3pm
Free activities from the Active Communities Team

  • Dance
  • Badminton
  • Boccia
  • New Age Kurling
  • Pickleball
  • Born to Move Early Years
  • Football – sessions for 5-7 years & 8-11 years
  • Family Dance Party

  • There will be Leisure Centre activities available, these will be bookable from 6 days before; charges may apply.

Wednesday 18 Feb – Xplorer

  • Xplorer Watlington Recreation Ground 10-11.30am
  • Xplorer Southern Town Park, Abingdon 1.30-3pm

Thursday 19 Feb – Didcot Mini Fun Day – GWP District Community Centre, 1-4pm

  • Activities available will be
    • Boccia & New Age Kurling,
    • Crafts
    • Family Dance Party.
  • Cost £2 per child per session or £1 with a YouMove card. 20% discount will be applied for bookings with 3 or more tickets. Booking in advance is required. Book your space for Didcot Mini Fun Day here.

Art Centre’s Half Term Activities

This February half term, enjoy live entertainment at Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot and The Beacon in Wantage. Highlights include family theatre, Rapunzel, at Cornerstone on Saturday 21 February. There will also be creative activities for children. The Hundred Watt Club takes place at The Beacon on Friday 20 February, featuring burlesque, cabaret, and comedy.
